Case Study - Elektro Beckhoff & reev

eMobility as an Integrated Service within the Electrical Trade

How Elektro Beckhoff delivers eMobility with ease – with reev as a long-term software partner.

Elektro Beckhoff specialises in electrical installations and building technology, delivering electrical systems for industrial facilities, residential developments, hospitals, hotels and public institutions. The family-owned company’s service portfolio ranges from building automation, data network technology and photovoltaic systems to fire alarm systems, switchgear construction and eMobility solutions. Their ambition: intelligent, manufacturer-independent, end-to-end solutions from a single source.

The Challenge: Integrating eMobility Without Added Complexity

Today, eMobility forms an integral part of nearly every Elektro Beckhoff project. In tenders, at least one wallbox has effectively become standard.

In addition, the German Building Electric Mobility Infrastructure Act (GEIG) requires property developers to address charging infrastructure at an early stage, as new builds and major renovations are subject to mandatory provisions for preparing charging points — even if the actual installation is carried out at a later date.

For Elektro Beckhoff, the key challenge was to integrate eMobility into its service portfolio in a way that remains simple and transparent for customers, while keeping internal effort to a minimum.
The company required a solution capable of covering projects of varying sizes, operating independently of hardware manufacturers, and clearly defining responsibilities — without creating additional coordination or interface complexity.

The Solution: Unified Energy and Charging Management with reev

With reev, Elektro Beckhoff selected a central platform that enables charging infrastructure to be managed and operated independently of hardware manufacturers.
The decisive factor was the combination of leading energy and charging management (EMS + CPMS), manufacturer-independent software and a practical, field-oriented approach — from commissioning charging stations through to ongoing operation.
reev is not used as a project-based one-off solution, but rather as a permanent component of Elektro Beckhoff’s eMobility offering and is systematically implemented in relevant customer projects.

Both end customers and electrical contractors benefit from intuitive, self-explanatory interfaces and clearly structured operational processes. For Elektro Beckhoff, this translates into significant time savings during project implementation and a smooth handover of charging infrastructure to operators and users.

The Results: Clear Responsibility, Seamless Operation

In day-to-day operations, the added value becomes particularly evident.
When it comes to eMobility, the best feedback is when there are hardly any follow-up questions,” explains Markus Kesselmeier, eMobility Technician at Elektro Beckhoff.
That is the strongest proof that the solution is intuitive and simply works.

From a customer perspective, the collaboration between Elektro Beckhoff and reev offers a decisive advantage: a single point of contact. Responsibilities remain clearly bundled and coordination effort is minimised.

For operators and electrical contractors, this means:

  • intuitive use without extensive explanation
  • reliable operation across all project sizes
  • reduced complexity in operation and support

Example Project: Public Charging Station 2025

A particularly notable project in 2025 was the construction of the first public charging station in Verl.
In the initial expansion phase, Elektro Beckhoff installed six DC charging points with a total output of 600 kW — consisting of one 400 kW DC charger and two additional 100 kW chargers.
As this was a publicly accessible charging infrastructure project with specific customer requirements, a tailored configuration was essential. Through close coordination with reev, the solution was implemented precisely according to requirements.

Operations are running smoothly, the customer is highly satisfied — and is already planning to expand the charging infrastructure.

Sustainability as an Integral Component

Sustainability plays a central role in almost every project — whether driven by conviction or by concrete sustainability targets.
eMobility is closely interlinked with additional technologies such as photovoltaics (PV), battery storage solutions and energy management systems, in which Elektro Beckhoff has decades of experience.

A major advantage lies in manufacturer-independent system integration: PV systems, storage, charging stations, heat pumps and air-conditioning systems can be combined into holistic energy systems — complemented by the reev Platform for energy and charging management, including a dynamic electricity tariff for eMobility.

Conclusion

The collaboration between Elektro Beckhoff and reev represents practical eMobility without unnecessary complexity.
Clear responsibilities, unified systems and a partnership built on equal footing form the foundation for scalable eMobility projects — today and in the future.

For our customers, what matters most is that eMobility simply works. With reev, we have a partner who shares exactly this commitment, says David Heidemann, Project Manager eMobility at Elektro Beckhoff.

Outlook & Partnership

Elektro Beckhoff continues to consistently expand its eMobility portfolio. Over the past two years, the company has strategically extended its offering to include high-performance DC charging solutions — ranging from 50 kW stations at company premises to 400 kW hyperchargers at service stations.
With the increasing adoption of electric trucks, Elektro Beckhoff expects growing demand, particularly among logistics companies and manufacturing businesses, for scalable software solutions to manage charging infrastructure.

At the same time, the company is preparing for upcoming developments such as bidirectional charging and Plug & Charge (PnC). reev is firmly established as a long-term technology and strategic partner in this journey.
